Mind-Body Therapy Services

Kate Morrissey Stahl, PhD, LCSW, CST

I specialize in mindfulness-based interventions, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and yoga.  I work with individuals, couples, and families experiencing a wide range of issues, from relational challenges including sexual issues to anxiety to grief to life transitions.  I assist people in clarifying their goals and sorting out how they might use current pain to cultivate wisdom in the service of clarifying and moving toward what they really care about.

I have master’s degrees in both communication and social work, certificates in marriage and family therapy and gerontology, am clinically licensed as a social worker, and am an AASECT certified sex therapist and an E-200 registered yoga teacher.  I hold a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Sciences, for which I received doctoral-level supervision as a couple and family therapist. I am a clinical assistant professor of Social Work at the University of Georgia. As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, I have specialized in working with desire issues, sexual function, sexual orientation, and gender expression.

I value evidence-based approaches and work to cultivate wellbeing, both for individuals and those in relationships. I enjoy working with clients in all stages of life who are feeling stuck in unsatisfying patterns. We all get stuck sometimes, and I am most pleased when I can listen and offer clients support to move out of these patterns and toward richer, more vital lives.

My office is in the front of the Rubber Soul Yoga Collective, Suite 1400 of the Leathers Building. You can park on the train track side and the entry also is on that side. There is a common area I can unlock in a suite further down the building if you want to wait inside.

I am paneled with many types of insurance, including BCBS, Kaiser, Aetna, Cigna, and Medicare. You can email me at katemorrisseystahllcsw at gmail.com.

I am not currently accepting new clients. Please check back for future availability or reach out to my colleague Amanda.

Amanda Auchenpaugh

I graduated from UGA with my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2012, and my Master’s degree in Social Work with a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2020. I am working towards licensure as a Clinical Social Worker and certification as a sex therapist, and am practicing under Dr. Kate Morrissey Stahl’s direction and clinical supervision.

I take a humanist and feminist approach to my practice. For me this means that all of us are intrinsically good and capable of growth and change, and that we all deserve equal rights. I am body-positive and LGBTQ+, polyamory, and kink friendly. I love expressive arts and often incorporate them into my practice.

I am most passionate about sex education and sexual freedom. I work with clients with a variety of needs, though I especially love to help clients work through sexual shame and repression in order to lead happier, more fulfilling lives. I view my job as the catalyst that helps my clients discover and grow the strength and potential they already possess. I want my clients to leave my practice feeling empowered with an increased sense of identity, self-esteem, and sense of peace.

I am currently seeing clients via telehealth. You can contact me at amanda.auchenpaugh at gmail.com
