| ADVENTURE CLUB 5 (revised as of 7.19.12 to have a lowered fee structure, payment plan, and a few less requirements) The trainings take place on most Saturdays, beginning August 4th, 2012 and ending on December 8th, 2012. In this 200-hour yoga
teacher training, students gain expertise in yoga. All eight limbs of Ashtanga are
taught, as well as yamas and niyamas. The training is designed to push comfort zones and
erradicate unconscious habits, all in an effort to find true health and
kindness. A lifestyle of kindness will be encouraged via an
interrogation of yoga, sacred poetry, spirituality, culture, history, nutrition, and the human body.
Schedule:
Requirements: Once
the program
begins, students chart various practices on
a daily basis using this charting system. Why? Because
our lives take place on a daily basis, habits are set/changed on a
daily basis, and when we mark down what we do everyday we make
interesting discoveries.
Once a month, each student individually meets with the program director for individual instruction in asana, to discuss books/ideas, and to review how things are going. During the week, attend 3+ classes at Rubber Soul (at whatever times you like) and complete reading assignments. Hold a vegan (plant-based, whole foods) diet throughout training. Why? Because yoga is about health, which has a dietary component as well as a social and exercise component. Also, we are interested in the connection between ahimsa (non-violence) and spirituality. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory. Students may miss only due to illness, emergencies, or major life commitments. It is a program requirement that you must always be rested, ready, and present for all of the training. Reading list (you may purchase these prior to the commencement of Adventure Club and begin reading): Happy Yoga by Steve Ross
Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko Slaughterhouse by Gail Eisnitz Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman Happy at 100 by John Robbins Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer Fees and Pricing: Upon acceptance, students may pay the tuition of $500. All
classes at Rubber Soul are included. Individual meetings with Cal are included. Alternatively, students may pay
five installments of $115, due the first Saturday of each month
(August-December). Late payments incur a penalty of $5 per day.
Students are expected to purchase the books (and/or obtain a copy to read). OK, I want to do it! To
apply, it is recommended
that you have
studied yoga for at least a year and be in good physical and mental
health. It would be wise for you to meet the program director by
attending a few of his yoga classes so that you'll have a sense of
whether his approach is a match for you. If all that is true, then
simply send your letter of intent to Dr. Cal Clements, Rubber Soul Yoga Revolution, 675 Pulaski
St, #1400, Athens, GA 30601. Students will be accepted on a first-come,
first-serve basis. Admissions are now open. Deadline for
application and fee payment is August 1, 2012. Questions may be
addressed to
calclements(at)gmail(dot)com
What to do now that you've been accepted into the program: Congratulations and welcome aboard. The first thing to do is download the chart
and begin keeping track of your daily activities. Next, order the books
and begin reading. Start with Happy Yoga
and do all the "Inner Yoga Exercises." Then continue down the list.
Then try to obtain a high-speed blender. This is very helpful for
eating lots of fruits & vegetables.
Note: This program certification is offered purely on the authority of Rubber Soul Yoga Revolution and its founder. It has no legal standing as the law does not require certification to teach yoga. You may write to calclements(at)gmail(dot)com with questions. He is always happy to hear from you. |
